Beauty + Safety!

Planning a bathroom update? Think about grab bars & wall mounted benches ... before you get started!

Within the past few years, the design of grab bars has been transformed from an institutional look, to one of elegance with dual purpose functionality. Some examples are shown below: Corner Soap Shelves, Toilet Paper Holders, Towel Bars, Shower Control Accent Rings and grab bars with rubber grips. A wide variety of bathing benches are also available in wall mounted and free-standing models that provide an important safety function with a beautiful spa look.

Whether or not these features will become part of your current renovation, you may want to consider blocking and strengthening specific sections of the bathing area while walls are opened for construction - so they can be located and added easily at a later date.

before & after

This Master Bath project focuses on ideas for better functionality and safety to suit changing needs and mobility issues. This was successfully accomplished by removing a tall, obsolete tub and enlarging the bathing area with a curb-less shower. A new vanity is designed to hold an easy access hamper and trash drawer, with LED lighting added at the vanity toe-kick for a night light. Heated floors, including the shower floor - add coziness and warmth for this 140 sq. ft space. No more throw rugs! The new entry is wider, with a sliding barn style door for much better access.
